Representative Matters
  • Routinely represents business clients in day-to-day compliance matters, including guiding employers through difficult terminations, coordinating investigations into employee misconduct, training supervisors, and implementing effective personnel policies.
  • Represented a hospital in a race-discrimination claim whereby a Federal District Court has granted summary judgment in hospital’s favor, and further assessed personal liability on the plaintiff for hospital’s attorney’s fees incurred in defending the suit.
  • Represented a lumber company in a lawsuit arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act. In ruling in the client’s favor, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals described the client as "the very picture of a family-friendly employer." Subsequently briefed the case to the United States Supreme Court where the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals’ ruling was upheld.
  • Defended a police jury sued for wrongful discharge under state law because it terminated an employee who failed to take a drug test when scheduled.
  • Defended a suit filed against an air compressor manufacturer based on the Family and Medical Leave Act. On appeal, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed district court’s dismissal, and further clarified an important issue of law concerning under what circumstances an employee is constructively discharged.
  • Represented a Parish detention center and its warden against a sexual harassment claim filed under Title VII.
  • Represented clients in dozens of charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in which the charges were subsequently dismissed.
  • Represented various business clients in reviewing employment issues in the context of sales of businesses.
