Gold Weems Lawyers Obtain Important Legal Victory for Louisiana College; U.S. Fifth Circuit Affirms Dismissal of All Claims By Fired President Aguillard

August 19, 2020

The Gold Weems Civil Rights and Employment Law team of Steven M. Oxenhandler and Michael J. O’Shee successfully defended Louisiana College from claims of religious discrimination, disability discrimination and retaliation, defamation retaliation, Clery Act and Whistleblower, and Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress by LC’s former president, Joe Aguillard.

On August 19, 2020, the U.S. Fifth Circuit affirmed the granting of five separate motions for partial summary judgment dismissing all of Aguillard’s claims.  The Fifth Circuit vindicated LC’s discharge of Joe Aguillard and dismissed all of his causes of action against LC, with prejudice.  Each of the individual opinions granting all five LC motions for partial summary judgment, as well as the U.S. Fifth Circuit decision, are attached.
