January 16, 2009

LSU at Alexandria observes Louisiana Arbor Day with the naming of a Live Oak tree in the honor of former LSU Board of Supervisors chairman, Charles S. “Charlie” Weems, III.  The Weems Oak will be the sixth named tree at LSUA.

Mr. Weems, in his 17 year membership on the LSU Board of Supervisors, was instrumental in the conversion of LSUA from a two-year institution to a baccalaureate degree-granting university.  He is also a Distinguished Alumnus of the LSU Law Center and president and senior partner  of Gold, Weems, Bruser, Sues & Rundell, APLC.
