Gold Weems Receives LSBA 2016 Pro Bono Publico Award

March 16, 2016

On March 16, 2016, the Louisiana State Bar Association named Gold Weems as a recipient of the prestigious 2016 Pro Bono Publico Award.  This annual award recognizes lawyers and judges who have made exceptional contributions to the legal profession and the community through exceptional contribution of pro bono legal work.  The Executive Director of the Central Louisiana Pro Bono Project, Debbie Smith, nominated Gold Weems, noting the numerous ways that Gold Weems attorneys facilitate access to justice for those unable to afford traditional legal services -- from assisting with legal clinics and self-help desks, to handling numerous individual cases each year referred by the Pro Bono Project.

The awards ceremony will be held on May 24, 2016 at the Louisiana Supreme Court in New Orleans.  Gold Weems salutes each of its attorneys for their dedication to working for "the public good" by serving low income clients free of charge.  Moreover, Gold Weems specially thanks Leisa B. Lawson who oversees the administration of the pro bono work at the firm and assures that each pro bono client receives the representation they deserve.
