Poole and Oxenhandler coach Peabody High Schools Mock Trial Team to victory

March 07, 2009

Sam N. Poole, Jr. and Steven M. Oxenhandler have acted as coaches for Peabody High School's Mock Trial Team for the past 4 years.

On March 7, 2009, the Louisiana Bar Association held its Region VI High School Mock Trial Competition at the 9th Judicial District Court located here in Alexandria.  In the first round, Peabody High School competed against Natchitoches Central and won, allowing them to advance to the final round.  Their opponent was the Louisiana School for Math, Sciences and Arts.  Peabody's team worked exceptionally hard, with the student/lawyers giving opening, closing, direct, and cross examination without the use of notes and our witnesses tying opposing counsel in knots.  Louisiana School for Math, Sciences and Arts also has talented students who performed extremely well.  In the end and for the first time ever, Peabody prevailed against Louisiana School for Math, Sciences and Arts and will represent Region VI at the State
Finals in Monroe on March 21, 2009.

We are very proud of these young men and women accomplishments.
